Cloudy in the morning. Brilliant sun all afternoon. Busy day! The day in pictures.

What I see every day on my walk in the morning.

Bird Island – a rock island visible from our balcony that is the breeding ground for thousands of fledging sea gulls and cormorants. The fledgings in the thousands fly every evening near sunset to land a short way away in the ocean and then return to the island 30-40 minutes later. You can get closer to it from the huge World Mark time share resort next to us. In the last picture I look back to our building – we are on the second floor.

A Visit to the Old Yaquina Bay Lighthouse and new Coast Guard Watch Tower (Should I have eaten those razor clams at breakfast?)

  1. That is definitely a very interesting walk you take every morning. I’m glad to see the Sea Hag statue is still there. I’m always amazed that you seem to have the beaches all to yourselves.

I guess you’d know by now if your razor clams were harvested at the lighthouse site. But you did seem to have a glow about you in the pics you took that afternoon!

  2. Looks like you both are having a great time! The location looks just awesome. Cheers!

  3. Always enjoy all the ocean and surrounding area pictures you send us. We now have your rain, but we sure need moisture. Our sky looks like yours today. Take care you two.

  4. So who is the tour director on this trip? Our is it all a serendipitous adventure to find the Devil’s Punch Bowl. (But of course god created it for him cuz it’s hot in hell….)

  5. Ahhh, the smell of salt water taffy reminds me of my youth back east. Now, alas, the teeth can’t handle any taffy!

    Lovely pictures, what great walks!!
