Back on the Road

Finally, back on the road. This post is a three day plus catch-up

Saturday

We left home early Saturday morning on our way to Trinidad (CA) and Depoe Bay (OR). We drove Interstate-free through Wickenburg, Parker, 29 Palms, Joshua Tree, and Barstow to Bakersfield, CA. Spent the night at our usual Marriot Springhill Suites and had a lovely dinner at Nuestro Mexico. Sunny and hot all the way.

Sunday

Straight up Interstate 5 to I-580 and I-880 into Sonoma County and over night in the cottage at the Gables Wine Country Inn. Quiet night after a very late and pretty forgettable late lunch at the Beer Baron.

Monday

On Monday morning we watched the Queen’s funeral before a delicious 9 AM breakfast at the Gables. Then it was a long drive up CA 101 to Eureka with a detour through Fort Bragg (no, not the North Carolina one). There was some spectacular scenery around Fort Bragg. In Eureka it was a quick stop at Costco for tonight’s meal (meatloaf) and enough wine for a few days. Finally at about 4 PM we arrived at our beautiful home in Trinidad for the next six nights. The meatloaf was good and then it was early to bed. Driving tires you out!

  1. That NoCal coastline is always so spectacular. Your house looks marvelous, what a deck!! Enjoy your time and we’re looking forward to your daily blog, CHEERS!

  2. So fun that you two are back “on the road”! I hope you can find some abalone in northern Cali. I think it is in season now – nummy!!!

    Happy travels…

  3. I’m a day late on commenting but no one (that’s you Joe) let me know you were heading out on Saturday!!

Anyway, it sounds like you had a great interstate-free drive to Trinidad with some beautiful scenery on the way. Very nice digs with a great sunset view to enjoy with your wine. Enjoy.
