A Virtual Trip Through History – Part 4

1988 – Summer Cruise to Alaska

In late June we departed on a cruise from Vancouver, British Columbia to Alaska. Along with my Mom, we flew to Vancouver where we met up with Elaine’s Mom & Dad. After a night in Vancouver we boarded Sitmar Cruise’s Fairsea for the sail to Alaska. (The Fairsea later became a Princess Cruise Line’s ship after Sitmar ceased operations.)

We visited Valdez (just nine months before the Exxon Valdez oil disaster), Seward, Juneau, Sitka, and Ketchikan. This was a voyage for my mother to get to know Doc & Lena. And we met some great people on the ship. The scenery and the tours were terrific. One highlight was that Doc & Lena’s grandson Garrett was born on July 4th while we were aboard ship.

  1. Joe, I cannot tell you how wonderful these pictures were today. Yesterday I was really wanting to talk to mom and dad and then I open these pictures you sent. Thank you so very much. It meant a great deal. Not to mention seeing Peg again….they are watching over us all no doubt.

  2. Great to see pictures of Mom and Doc and Lena. I hope Cindy’s right that they’re watching over us.

  3. I knew Doc would win that putting game. So much fun seeing you guys. This has been my COVID ritual to catch up on. Miss you all. Xoxoxo!
