Another day without a morning walk. It’s all supposed to clear up by tonight.
We drove into Newport for lunch at Pacific Kitchens. I had clam chowder and an oyster burger with bacon (fried oysters instead of hamburger). Elaine had fried calamari (I helped) and black cod fish tacos. Elaine had a Pacifico beer; I had a local Arch Rock lager.
Otherwise it was a quiet day at home. It magically cleared up for an hour around 6 PM before clouding up again. I got a few pictures from the balcony.
Friday Morning
Friday morning broke clear with a slight bit of fog. We took our separate walks. For something to do I took a pictorial retrospective of Depoe Bay signs. Here it is. Tomorrow there should be some good ocean pictures in bright sunshine.
Ré the last picture: something new has been coming soon for a LONG time.

Cold Weather Gear for the Balcony
Elaine you look like you are ready for our first snowstorm. Love the picture. There is quite a lot going on in Depoe Bay from all the signs. Thanks for showing us that Joe. Loved the smile Elaine! XO
Now that’s a great smile, Elaine. And I love your chilly weather outfit!
Joe, I love your sign retrospective. Especially the Cat Lick Rock sign. There must be a story behind that one. And the salt water taffy signs. Do you remember going to the Golden Rod in York Maine as kids to watch them cook, cool and pull the salt water taffy? Heidi just went back there with friends for old times sake.
Enjoy the sunshine tomorrow.
Yes, I remember the salt water taffy place in York, ME. As cold as the water always was at Wallis Sands, it was always colder at York Beach. Remember Yoken’s in Portsmouth for meals? Remember releasing the parking brake on the car and crashing into the old wagon in the yard at Rye? Remember Ashley’s for soft serve and Sammy’s Surf Haven for pizza?
Yes, I remember Yoken’s and Surf Haven, but not Ashley’s (Ladd’s for ice cream was my favorite). And I definitely remember crashing the car. I thought I’d be punished forever, but we all got to go to Hampton Beach that night. Phew!
Ashley’s was right next to the Red Roof.
Nope. Still don’t remember.
